DR. JAN WEINER, PH.D.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Specialist
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist practicing in the New Jersey and New York area. I work with persons ages 10+ who have trouble coping with anxiety, depression, relationship, and other interpersonal issues. I work primarily within the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy orientation (CBT), using empirically supported treatments.
I specialize in helping people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I have over twelve years of experience, seven years working with a world renowned expert in OCD, where I obtained extensive training in using Exposure and Response Prevention techniques. I have treated patients in New York City, New Jersey, and around the world with anxiety-based disorders. I commonly treat Phobias, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Eating Disorders. I frequently work with issues around relationship issues, fertility struggles, divorce, life/career transitions. My work also addresses depression, perfectionism, and personality issues but I am experienced treating a wide range of issues beyond the scope of this paragraph.
My initial training was a BS degree in Biopsychology at University of Michigan. My Ph.D in Behavioral Neuroscience was obtained from The Graduate Center of CIty University, where I obtained an extensive research background investigating gender differences in the neurological responses of drug addiction. Then, I completed three years postdoctoral training in CIinical Psychology at Hofstra University. My postdoctoral fellowship was at The Center for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy.
I had a private practice in Midtown Manhattan for 5 years before relocating to New Jersey during Covid. In 2021, I founded North Jersey Psychology Associates where I am the Clinical Director and co-managing partner.
I am a compassionate, empathetic psychologist who understands the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and clinical understanding of your issues so that we can work together to achieve your goals. This contributes to the success of my clients.
